About the International Film Institute

MISSION

IFI is dedicated to the production of powerful communication pieces on behalf of charitable organizations, which endeavor to relieve social injustice and advance a message of hope, mercy and reconciliation.

In addition, the IFI intends to train and mentor emerging filmmakers who seek to affect positive change through the production of compelling, well-crafted dramatic and documentary films.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Bruce Marchfelder

MA Yale. BA Haverford. Writing/Directing debut, The Artist’s Circle, was selected for the 53rd Cannes International Film Festival; Directors Guild “Crazy 8’s” participant; Winner of the CBC/BC Film Signature Shorts screenwriting competition for Casanova at Fifty.

Recipient of the Crystal Heart Award, which “honors filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life.” In NYC, wrote and directed more than six award-winning documentaries. Produced three feature films including Mika Kaurismaki’s Amazon, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Arranged financing for three other international feature productions. As new media artist, collaborated with Moby, Yoko Ono, HBO, MTV, BBC, The Guggenheim Museum, The Andy Warhol Museum, and Mass MoCA.

He serves as an Advisory Board member for the Vancouver International Film Festival Trade Forum; also lecturer in Film History at Regent College/UBC, Former Directing Instructor and Curriculum Advisor for the Vancouver Film School.

Professional actor working in film and television. Appearances in dozens of North American commercial campaigns. Best known for her character "Devon Moore" on the episodic television series, The 4400, as well as other recurring characters on Blade: The Series, Flash Gordon, Terminal City, and Cold Squad. Numerous principal and guest star roles on TV series' like Smallville, Supernatural, Andromeda, and Out of Order. Leading and starring roles in feature films and MOW’s (movies of the week) such as Perfect Little Angels, and Fear of Flying, also Mission to Mars, Shanghai Noon and many others.

Currently studying Dramaturgy and Theatre History at University of British Columbia. Training: Scene Study at Lyric with Kate Twa, and in Los Angeles with Candy Kaneki; Voice at UBC with Trish Allen; Meisner with June Whitaker, Shakespeare Master Class with Molly Lyons, Advanced Study with Larry Moss (coach to Hilary Swank, Helen Hunt, Sally Field).

Currently co-starring with Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) in X-Files Producer, Robert Goodwin's upcoming feature film, Alien Trespass.
